Blue sausage fruit
Every year in October/November I go out of my way to visit one of my favourite trees at Fota Arboretum in Cork
Also known as Dead mans fingers is one of the plants that got me into horticulture, the first time i saw it I've never forgotten it, and i'm so happy to be able to offer it for your gardens,
A fantastic multistemmed shrub or small tree, growing upto 3m tall,
It has elegant pinnate blue-green leaves which grow to 50cm long, turning a translucent butter colour in Autumn
long racemes of greenish flowers in May-June which are followed in autumn by their famous fruits
best grown in full sun to dappled shade, in well drained fertile soil,
Can also suit a smaller garden
